Theme and basic information
Okay, so the theme is really the weirdest part of this slot. We get a bunch of pastel-coloured Russian nesting dolls (or matryoshkas) that come in different sizes. The background is knitted and also pastel-coloured. Make of that what you will.
The accompanying background music sounds Russian and gives the whole thing a little life. Whilst the dolls are kind of cute, the theme is, at best, odd and, at worst, uninspired. Thunderkick has given us much more interesting themes before and after the release of Babushkas.
Be that as it may, the smaller the doll the higher the value. But even the most valuable of the nesting dolls (the yellow one) will only pay out 2x your bet for a 5-of-a-kind win. There are only six other dolls, mind you, and you will win fairly frequently in this low-volatile slot.

Wild Mystery features
The Wild, a colourful egg with a “W” written on it, only appears on reel 3 and replaces all other symbols. There are no scatters in the game. Whenever the Wild lands on the reels, it will spin around for a moment. If it does not show a star, any wins are paid out and on you go. But if it ends up showing its starry side, it will open up to activate one of three features:
- Scare Bear – Depending on the size of the bear, all lowest value symbols will upgrade to the next highest symbol 1x, 2x or even 3x.

The theoretical RTP (Return to Player) of Babushkas is 95.8%, which is actually below average. This is surprising, considering that wins are fairly frequent here, but big wins are very rare. Most of the time, you’ll just get by when playing this slot. Assuming you can befriend the odd theme here and are here for the features.
As it stands, you need to be lucky, which is always true when gambling, mind you. Whilst we didn’t love the theme of the slot, we ended up being lucky right from the get-go, launching the free spins twice in a row and once again after perhaps another 100 spins. Babushkas Slot – Our Verdict
It took us so long to spin the first Wild Egg that we started to wonder if the game somehow malfunctioned. They are there, only a bit shy to show up. The slot is claimed to have RTP of 95,8% (definitely not the best slot online) but it didn’t feel that way, so we either weren’t very lucky or it’s really long-term based. Generally the feel was action was a bit slow and rewards quite modest. If there is a chance of a big win, we’ve clearly missed it.
Thunderkick have some great slots. We would recommend the Arcader, Esqueleto Explosivo and of course 1429 Uncharted Seas with it’s superb 98.6% RTP.
